Watamu, Kenya, is situated 120 kilometers north of Mombasa and is 28 kilometers south of Malindi town, and is easily reached by road or by air transportation.

Watamu is primarily a Swahili fishing village, but has since developed into a stunning small beach resort. Just meters from the sunbathing visitors Swahili fishermen still moor their dhows, and authentic houses can be seen behind the resort. There are several small supermarkets, grocers, butcher, and typical Kenyan style markets where all supplies can be bought. Curio and souvenir shops, a post office, and bars and restaurants are all located within the community. There are also some lively night clubs in the area.

Watamu’s excellent conditions offer exceptional snorkeling and diving opportunities and guests can visit Watamu Marine National Park to encounter spectacular underwater marine life and stunning coral gardens. Turtle Bay, a beautiful beach surrounded by swaying palm trees and white powdery sand, offer visitors long walks, swimming and sunbathing. Visitors can explore the rock pools at low tide, laze in the sun, or just wet their toes in the pleasant warm water. The atmosphere is very laid back and peaceful.

Local attractions are abundant and guests can visit places such as Mida Creek, a large mangrove-lined creek with spectacular bird life, explore the Mangrove Forest, or take a cultural trip to one of the local villages.
