Tanzania is situated in Eastern Africa and became the United Republic of Tanzania after gaining independence. It is a country of diverse natural beauty which comprises of arid plains, mountain plateaus, beautiful lakes and stunning beaches.

The inland town of Dodoma is technically the capital of Tanzania but it is Dar es Salaam that is the thriving social, commercial and economic hub of the country. The city is a hustle and bustle of activity and is a marvellous hotchpotch of Tanzanian culture, vibrant music, interesting museums and galleries, excellent restaurants and cafes, authentic architecture and historic buildings, and stunning palm tree fringed pristine sandy beaches. Culturally, Tanzania is abound with attractions and the various ethnic groups each have their own traditions, lively rituals and events, and ceremonies to mark major occasions such as marriage, death, and birth.

Tanzania holds the largest concentration of wildlife and approximately 25% of the country’s land is used as preserves and national parks. National parks include the renowned Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park, and the Gombe National Park, a well known site where Doctor Jane Goodall studied chimpanzee behaviour for many years. Kilimanjaro National Park offer visitors various hiking trails up to the magnificent snow-capped Kilimanjaro mountain peaks.

There are beautiful lakes in Tanzania such as the immense Lake Victoria, and Lake Tanganyika, well known for the unique species of fish present in its waters. Canoeing on the lakes is a splendid way of encountering wildlife up close and having a broader spectrum of the glorious landscape. Keen sports fishermen have an abundance of sites along many parts of the coast and can be rewarded with spectacular record catches of marlin, tuna, and swordfish that is possible at the world famous Pemba Channel. Tanzania has many marine sanctuaries which are home to thousands of species of fish, incredible coral reefs and fascinating marine mammals such as sharks and dolphins.

Tanzania is a unique destination and offer phenomenon sensations and experiences ranging from diverse fauna and flora, exotic islands such as Zanzibar, historical and cultural endeavours, excellent game viewing, and friendly people that harbour and nurture good tourism relationships.
