The dramatic escarpment of the Samburu landscape is one of great diversity and beauty. Extending over 104 square kilometer the area harbors a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere in any numbers including Grevy's zebra, the giraffe and the Beisa Oryx all species found only north of the equator. The ample diverse bird life includes Somali ostrich, marshal eagle, pygmy falcons, hornbills and Egyptian geese. Scenically the land is withered under the equatorial sun but this carry the trademark of this scrubland and the barren hills.
