Tassia Lodge

Only 7 years old this eco lodge stands proudly at the foot of the Mokogodo Forest and enjoys vies of the Matthews Range Mountains. A bumpy six-hour drive from Nairobi will bring you to the uninterrupted views of the northern escarpment of Kenya, the African savannah and forests which leads to the horizon.

Accommodation at The Tassia Lodge consists of:

Run by the local Maasai community, the small intimate lodge allows a maximum tenancy of twelve and guests have the option of renting the complete lodge for themselves. Several children can sleep in a separate bunk-house. The lodge has thatch roofs, wood floors, hand-carved furniture and partly walled rooms which are intended to let cool breezes in with exclusive views of Lolokwe Mountain. Solar powered electricity, with paraffin hot water heaters are supplied and a generator is in place as backup. A central living area with roman couches is adjacent to the lodge's stone-floored swimming pool and overlooks the natural water hole fed by an underground spring. A personal chef is available for food preparation of food brought by guests. Borana Lodge offers full catering for our guests. You can take pleasure in breakfast and other meals within wilderness.

The Mokogodo forest is only a few minutes away, offering fantastic hiking trails. Guests will enjoy the peace and solace from the sounds and animal activity in forest. Butterflies, rare flora and fauna are visible far and wide. The dried up riverbeds get filled with life after the rains and Loimugi trees provide much loved food for the elephants that visit the area. Ngare Ndare River attracts gazelle and buffalo.

Accompany the Masai hosts on a game drive and see hyenas, leopards, lions, and waterbuck or hike up to the 7 300-foot peak of neighboring Mount Lossos and paraglide back down. All profits from Tassia Lodge go to the Maasai community of Lekurruki, which numbers about 500 households (about 6500 people). So far the benefits have been: radio contact with all villages for emergencies, visits from a mobile clinic and school bursaries.
