Leleshwa Camp

Enjoy a secure and contented Camp positioned on the north-eastern border of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya nestled in a gorge amongst scenic hills and gently sloping plains.

Leleshwa Camp can accommodate up to fourteen guests with only seven en-suite safari tents. Every tent is uniquely and carefully designed with aesthetic touches. Entirely insect proof and with 20 x 14 feet floor space the tent offers endless comforts. The tents has either 2 single or 1 king sized bed with duvet bedding and an extra canvas cot bed can be provided for children. Solar power provides lighting inside the tents. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with flushing lavatories and a conventional safari shower. Even though water is not piped to the tents, hot water is accessible at all times. Our chef prepares delightful meals guests are served in the large dining area and comfortable lounge, by our friendly staff. Guests often enjoy relaxing under the African night sky with a roaring campfire that is lit every night. Plentiful game from the area will be visible at most times especially with large verandahs and an open plan camp terrain. A resident lion pride can be heard calling most nights, including leopard, cheetah, hyena and a variety of plains game.

Guest are welcome to join an escorted Game Drive, sundowners followed by night game drives, guided bush walks and Maasai community activities, or visit a traditional village and local school. Migrations can be a phenomenal part of the Masai Mara when game flood onto the plains from the Serengeti. Each year around mid July you can see the migration of up to 2 million wildebeest passing through the plain followed by some predators.

The eco-friendly camp focuses on the commitment to the local community and ongoing development of conservation which involves taking care to cause little disruption to our natural surroundings. During the rainy season the camp closes to allow natural rejuvenation to occur. Community Conservation initiatives include a local primary school, access to drinking water and overall planning and management of the conservation area. Guests are welcome to become long-term contributors towards selected projects.
