"There is no better African Safari experience than camping deep in the bush."
The Game Drivers Sokonoi Camp is located on the Oropile Lugga (a seasonal river flowing out of the nearby Loita Hills) in the Maasai Mara. The camp provides a rare opportunity to experience a real bush safari camp.
Our tents are very comfortable and spacious with white canvas and green roofs and are specifically designed to maximise comfort. Along with double or twin beds each tent has its own verandah, full bathroom facilities and changing areas providing complete privacy. Each tent is carefully sited to ensure seclusion and that feeling that only comes from a real camp in real bush. Outside of your tent you have your own campfire. Although the camp is not fenced, it is patrolled at night by Maasai Askaris (watchmen) and the campfires and lights are kept burning from dusk to dawn.
Off the beaten-track Sokonoi Camp provides an exclusive base for day and night game viewing and a chance to meet the local Maasai.
The camp is located on Maasai land that is part of the Siana Wildlife Trust Conservation Area. All proceeds from concession fees and camp fees go directly to the local manyatta (village) and visitors' reserve fees to the Trust.
Visits to the manyatta, bush walks with our Maasai hosts, the opportunity to purchase handmade crafts and be present at an authentic tribal dance are all part of the camp experience.
Home-cooking: Wherever you go on your Game Drivers Safari, we pride ourselves with our ability to serve you beautifully prepared, home cooked food using the finest local ingredients. The dining experience at Sokonoi is no exception.
Our camp chef is adept at preparing a wide variety of international cuisine, much of which is cooked in our 'bush oven' where bread is also baked daily. We place particular importance on providing fresh produce and tropical fruit. Other refreshments are available throughout the day. We are also used to catering to those with special dietary requirements.
