The Village Rooms are styled to resemble a historical building from the ancient island town of Lamu with decadently carved balconies, coral pillars, fretwork screens, Zanzibari-carved doors, gleaming arches, stone-carved niches and lavish Lamu-styled furniture.
Adjacent to the courts and traditional Swahili Village and the riotous blooming garden is the luxurious Garden Rooms overlooking the Indian Ocean. The dining room offers an atmosphere drenched in ocean breeze and hanging blossoms from the Persian garden. The cuisine features internationally themed menus and lavish buffets, also draws on a strong Swahili influence to introduce an abundance of tropical fruits, exotic spices, coconuts, limes, coriander and fresh-caught seafood to the colorful choice of dishes.
The resort offers housekeeping services which include concierge service, porter, laundry, valet, babysitting on request, children’s’ menus and dining facilities. A business center; secretarial services; and global connectivity are available for anyone wishing to resume business on the premises. The Butterfly garden is very active with butterflies and you can easily spot them as they land on the indigenous plants soaking up the mid day sun. The hotels butterfly project aims to provide breeding areas for over 12 species of endangered forest butterflies.
We also cooperate with the Kenya Sea Turtle Conservation Committee on a rescue and conservation project that aims to protect the nesting and feeding sites of seven species of migratory turtles. Locally produced crafts are sold in the curio shops at the hotel and shoppers can splash out at the weekly hosted ‘Lamu Market’ where local craftspeople sell their work. The hotel also contributes towards local fund-raising projects and encourages the guests to visit local attractions such as the Bamburi Nature Trail and the Ngomongo Cultural Village.
