The Village Rooms are styled to resemble a historical building from the ancient island town of Lamu with decadently carved balconies, coral pillars, fretwork screens, Zanzibari-carved doors, gleaming arches, stone-carved niches and lavish Lamu-styled furniture.

Adjacent to the courts and traditional Swahili Village and the riotous blooming garden is the luxurious Garden Rooms overlooking the Indian Ocean. The Butterfly garden is very active with butterflies and you can easily spot them as they land on the indigenous plants soaking up the mid day sun. The hotels butterfly project aims to provide breeding areas for over 12 species of endangered forest butterflies.

We also cooperate with the Kenya Sea Turtle Conservation Committee on a rescue and conservation project that aims to protect the nesting and feeding sites of seven species of migratory turtles. Locally produced crafts are sold in the curio shops at the hotel and shoppers can splash out at the weekly hosted 'Lamu Market' where local craftspeople sell their work. The hotel also contributes towards local fund-raising projects and encourages the guests to visit local attractions such as the Bamburi Nature Trail and the Ngomongo Cultural Village.
